White Christmas - Carousel Dinner Theatre

One of the most interesting performances in the show is that of Michele Burdette Elmore, who plays Martha Watson, the desk clerk and general flunky at the lodge in Vermont. Elmore permits her character to grow from a bit part to a major singer/dancer. When she sings “Let Me Sing and I’m Happy,” she gives the audience an old-fashioned song and dance that we don’t often see on the stage any more. She’s a pleasure to watch.

Sister Act - Stages St. Louis

It was rewarding to see Michele Burdette Elmore get significantly more stage time in her role of Sister Mary Lazarus.  The fact that she pulled off a gangsta rapping for the Lord was remarkable and left the audience howling in their seats.

Ms. Elmore's character is the type we've all known and is not an easy character type to like. Ms. Elmore not only makes Mama Rose obnoxious but she also draws out the sympathetic nature of the character.  We feel sorry for her and yes, we actually like her.

And the reviews are in...

Bitter Fruit is a hit!

Teresa, Maria’s mother, is played by

Michele Burdette Elmore. I called her “a knockout performer” when I saw her in “Whoopee” some thirty-two years ago. She’s not dancing quite so fast now, but she’s still a knockout performer. And such an expressive face!

Combatting that sketchiness of character in the script, Ms. Burdette Elmore displays a bombastic matronly air as Teresa, something we normally associate with comedy. It adds a giddy sensibility that evolves into something alarming. This is when her clownishness flowers and decays into something mad, and almost lurid to behold. It's a side of Ms. Burdette Elmore (a regular ensemble member at Stages St. Louis) that we never get to see, otherwise.
